PDP should sack Wike, Ortom, others who worked against party – Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has called for the expulsion of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu; and other PDP members who allegedly worked against the party during the 2023 general elections.
Alhaji Lamido, made the call on Friday when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today,.
Lamido emphasised that the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) must take decisive action against members who openly undermine the party.
“All those erring members, the Wikes, the Ortoms, the Ikpeazus and others, who openly campaigned against the PDP in the 2023 elections, and who say that they are going to work for the APC in 2027, should be sacked from the party,” he said.
He alao expressed frustration over the party’s tolerance of anti-party activities, stressing the need for disciplinary measures to restore order.
Lamido further announced his decision to boycott PDP Board of Trustees meetings until disciplinary actions were taken against erring members.
He lamented the party’s failure to uphold its constitution, which stipulated sanctions for members who breach the party’s code.
Lamido cited Wike’s alleged attempts to shut down the PDP National Secretariat and Ortom’s support for Peter Obi in the 2023 elections as examples of anti-party activities.
He criticised the party’s leadership for failing to enforce disciplinary measures, allowing a culture of impunity to thrive.
Lamido emphasised the need for the PDP to restore its integrity by taking decisive action against erring members.
On Friday, the PDP’s National Working Committee warned members expressing support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections to retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions.
The committee criticised the actions of the errant members, describing them as anti-party and contrary to the provisions of the party’s constitution.
