Ibom Air imposes lifetime ban on passenger over assault on crew

Ibom Air has permanently banned a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, from flying with the airline for violently assaulting crew members and security personnel on a Uyo-Lagos flight.
The airline, in a statement on Monday said the unruly passenger won’t be permitted to fly on any of its aircraft from now on.
“The passenger was removed from the ramp and taken into custody by FAAN security and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation,” Ibom Air said.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, and was triggered by Emmanson’s refusal to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff.
Emmanson refused to switch off her phone despite repeated instructions from the crew.
A fellow passenger eventually switched it off, prompting a verbal outburst from her.
Upon arrival in Lagos, Emmanson confronted the Purser, stepping on her, tearing off her wig, removing her glasses, and using her footwear to assault her.
She also slapped the crew member multiple times and attempted to remove a fire extinguisher.
Emmanson attacked Ibom Air security personnel and FAAN security officers, even slapping the ground supervisor.
She was eventually restrained and removed from the aircraft by force.
Ibom Air has permanently banned Emmanson from flying with the airline, citing her violent behaviour as a serious threat to safety.
The airline has submitted a report to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards unruly conduct.
Emmanson was taken into custody by FAAN security and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
This incident comes days after Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, was banned by the NCAA for six months over his unruly behavior at the Abuja airport.
