Madonna urges Pope Leo XIV to visit Gaza amid humanitarian crisis

The U.S. queen of pop, Madonna, has made a heartfelt appeal to Pope Leo XIV, urging him to visit Gaza and bring attention to the devastating humanitarian crisis unfolding there.
In her emotional plea on Instagram, she wrote, “Most Holy Father, please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it’s too late.
”As a mother, I cannot bear to watch their suffering. The children of the world belong to everyone. You are the only one of us who cannot be denied entry.”, she added.
Israel has continued to deny there is starvation starvation in Gaza and has accused UN agencies of not picking up aid at the borders and delivering it.
Like a prayer the singer added: “We need the humanitarian gates to be fully opened to save these innocent children.”
She signed off by saying: “There is no more time. Please say you will go. Love, Madonna.”
In July, the new Pope renewed his call for a Gaza ceasefire after three people sheltering in the Catholic church in Gaza City were killed in an Israeli strike.
Madonna emphasised that there was no more time and requested the Pope’s immediate intervention to save innocent children from starvation.
She stressed the need for humanitarian gates to be fully opened to allow aid into Gaza, citing the dire situation and widespread suffering.
Madonna clarified that she’s not pointing fingers or placing blame but rather focusing on saving lives and promoting peace.
The UN has reported alarming levels of acute malnutrition among children in Gaza, with nearly 12,000 children under five identified as acutely malnourished in July alone.
The UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan have issued a joint statement warning that “famine is unfolding in front of our eyes” and urging action to reverse starvation.
The conflict has resulted in significant loss of life, displacement, and destruction in Gaza, with over 61,500 Palestinians killed since October 2023.
The Irish rock band has also spoken out against the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, condemning both Israel’s actions and Hamas’s role in the conflict. Bono emphasised the need for peace and coexistence between Israel and Palestine
