Sen. Dickson mourns former PDP chairman, Audu Ogbeh

Senator representing Bayelsa West, in the Senate and Former Bayelsa Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, has paid tribute to the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman and three-time Minister, who passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 78.
Senator Dickson expressed deep sorrow over Ogbeh’s demise, describing him as a “decent and broad-minded elder statesman whose wise counsel would be greatly missed”.
During a condolence visit to Ogbeh’s family on Wednesday, in Abuja, Senator Dickson recounted their close relationship, highlighting Ogbeh’s willingness to engage on national issues and offer valuable guidance.
According to the  former governor of Bayelsa State, “Throughout my governorship and my service as a federal legislator, Chief Audu Ogbeh always found time to discuss national issues:.
”He encouraged me and shared his perspective on a wide range of matters. Indeed, he lived a life of service,” Dickson said.
The Senator, who is a High Chief of the Idoma Kingdom,  was warmly received by Chief Ogbeh’s wife, children, and other family members during the visit.
Dickson prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the bereaved family.
His words: “Chief Ogbeh has departed at a time when his wise and selfless service and counsel are mostly needed in nation-building, as our nation navigates a very trying moment,” he lamented.
Dickson also offered prayers for the deceased’s eternal rest and comfort for the bereaved family, just as he disclosed his intention to attend the funeral in Otukpa, Idomaland, God willing.
Chief Ogbeh, a respected political figure, served Nigeria in various capacities, including as Minister of Communications, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and PDP National Chairman.
He died on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Funeral preparations are already underway in his hometown, Otukpa, Benue State, where dignitaries from across the country are expected to bid him a befitting farewell.
