Tinubu engages Nigerians in Japan for national development

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians in the Diaspora to utilize their expertise and resources to contribute to the country’s growth and development.
President Tinubu made the call during an interactive session with Nigerians on Thursday in Japan, emphasising the importance of collective effort in nation-building.
Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on the event.
Tinubu also stressed that national development is a shared duty involving both the government and citizens, including those in the diaspora.
He further encouraged Nigerians abroad to consider opportunities at home, highlighting the importance of their contributions to the country’s development.
The President urged the diaspora community to serve as ambassadors, promoting Nigeria positively in global engagements to attract investment and partnerships.
Tinubu highlighted the government’s efforts to stabilise economic fundamentals and spur investment, creating jobs and opportunities for citizens.
He noted that healthcare upgrades were helping to reverse medical tourism by delivering quality services within Nigeria.
Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh, and Mr Khalil Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), were invited to outline ongoing reforms.
Also speaking, Mr Wale Tinubu, Oando PLC’s CEO and the President’s nephew, noted that the reforms were improving Nigeria’s business environment, attracting investment, and expanding capital markets.
President Tinubu declared that Nigeria is “back on the rise”, driven by strategic thinking and decisive action.
He stressed that true leadership combines vision with practical solutions to achieve stability and unity.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure all Nigerians feel tangible benefits from reforms and good governance..
“I’m happy to listen to you. I’m happy to report many of our people are returning home,” Tinubu told the gathering.
He acknowledged some Nigerians may remain abroad for economic reasons, but urged them to consider opportunities at home, insisting their contributions are crucial to national development.
Several Nigerians in Japan expressed support for the President’s administration, pledging to contribute to the country’s development.
The President of the Nigerian Union in Japan, Emeka Ebogota, thanked Tinubu for engaging the diaspora community and pledged his members’ support in repositioning Nigeria for greater global relevance and domestic progress.
The meeting was attended by several government officials, including ministers and senior government figures.
Private sector stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and professionals from various fields were also present, highlighting the diversity of the Nigerian diaspora community.
