Tinubu leaves Japan, heads to Brazil for state visit

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday departed Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil, where he will begin a state visit on August 24.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.
The statement noted that before proceeding to Brasília, the Brazilian capital, the President would make a stopover in Los Angeles.
Tinubu began his two-nation trip on August 15, leaving Abuja with a brief stopover in Dubai, UAE, before arriving in Yokohama on August 18.
During his stay in Japan, the President attended the opening ceremony and plenary of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) on August 20.
President Tinubu held bilateral meetings with various stakeholders.
The President had an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community on Thursday night, urging them to contribute their expertise and resources to the country’s growth and stability.
President Tinubu emphasised that national development required a shared sense of responsibility between citizens at home and abroad.
Tinubu also noted that many Nigerians were returning home due to economic growth and opportunities available in the country.
The President would begin a state visit to Brazil on August 24, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Brazil.
The visit is expected to include meetings with Brazilian leaders and other stakeholders to discuss areas of mutual interest.
