Bode George warns against internal sabotage ahead of national convention

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has warned that the party must take decisive action against members.
Speaking on Arise News on Friday, Chief George emphasised that the PDP could no longer continue to tolerate internal sabotage and that members who undermined the party’s unity should either leave or face disciplinary action.
George stressed that the party’s primary responsibility was to the Nigerian electorate, not to individual ambitions, and that disobedience to party decisions amounts to a betrayal of trust.
He also reiterated the importance of rotational leadership and zoning principles, which he believed were fundamental to Nigeria’s stability and the PDP’s founding ideals.
He further argued that those ignoring these principles were threatening not just the party’s future but also national balance.
George called for decisive action at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, insisting that members must either respect the party’s constitution or leave.
He warned that failure to take decisive action would lead to further conflict and undermine the party’s credibility.
The PDP chieftain emphasised the need for the party to present itself as disciplined and united if it hoped to retain its role as Nigeria’s leading opposition party.
He stressed that the party’s unity and cohesion were essential to its success and that individual interests must be subordinated to the party’s collective interests.
George also highlighted the structural difference between the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the PDP is a collective leadership party, whereas the APC is dominated by one individual – the President.
He argued that this difference reflected the PDP’s commitment to democratic principles and collective responsibility.
