Air Peace welcomes 4th Boeing 777 aircraft

Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its mission to dominate the West and Central African aviation market and deepen its global expansion strategy.
The state-of-the-art Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft, with registration number 5N-CEG, landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday on August 22, 2025 at exactly 3:32 p.m. from Teruel, Spain.
The aircraft’s arrival was celebrated with a traditional water-cannon salute and a grand reception led by the airline’s Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema; Executive Director, Obinna Onyema; Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide; alongside members of Air Peace’s management team.
Speaking with journalists, the airline’s Spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, said the acquisition of the Boeing 777 was in line with Air Peace’s vision of strengthening global connectivity.
The 312-seater aircraft is configured with 26 premium Business Class seats and 286 Economy Class seats, offering passengers a superior inflight experience.
While Business Class travellers would enjoy ambient private seating and advanced comfort features, Economy passengers were promised spacious legroom and refined onboard service.
During a media tour, Dr. Onyema described the development as a “pivotal milestone” for the airline, stressing that the acquisition represents a decisive step in Air Peace’s expansion plan.
He announced that the newly acquired Boeing 777 would be deployed within the next two months for the airline’s inaugural long-haul flights from Abuja to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Onyema also disclosed plans to open additional routes to key European cities, South America, particularly direct flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil and the Caribbean, expanding on Air Peace’s groundbreaking operations into Antigua and Barbuda, as well as St. Kitts and Nevis.
He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to providing Nigerians with “fair and affordable” access to international travel.
Onyema criticised the high fares traditionally charged by foreign carriers and called for the development of an efficient hub system in Nigeria to boost both regional and global connectivity.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting indigenous airlines through favourable policies and commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for implementing inclusive strategies that position Nigerian carriers to compete effectively on the global stage.
