Delta lawmaker disburses bursary allowances to 76 indigent students

The lawmaker representing Burutu II constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Pereotu Oloye, on Saturday inaugurated the disbursement of bursary allowances to 76 indigent students from his constituency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries are undergraduates enrolled in various higher institutions across the country.
At the event, which involved an online credit alert to the students, Oloye said the initiative aligned with his commitment to prioritise education and human capital development within his constituency.
He explained that the bursary intervention was part of his support for the State Government’s ‘Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda,’ led by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Oloye recalled that in July 2025, he conducted a comprehensive data collection exercise to identify indigent students qualified for the bursary.
“The first batch of 76 students has received credit alerts to support their educational progress,” he said.
Also serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Urban Renewal, Oloye reaffirmed his unwavering support for educational development, especially in Burutu II.
He stressed that education remained a key focus of his empowerment programmes and pledged to continue providing effective representation for his constituents.
The lawmaker encouraged residents to remain steadfast in supporting good governance and continued development in the area.
He expressed his ongoing commitment to the growth and welfare of the Burutu II constituency.
