Oborevwori appeals for peace in Warri amidst tensions

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has appealed to residents and stakeholders in Warri South Local Government Area to exercise caution and restraint following reports of a brewing crisis between Itsekiris and Urhobos.
The governor n a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Saturday, emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the oil-rich city.
Governor Oborevwori urged community leaders, youth groups, and opinion molders to work together to foster understanding, unity, and peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups.
He appealed to residents to shun all actions capable of disrupting the existing peace and stability in the area.
The Governor assured that his administration remained committed to revitalising infrastructure in Warri, stressing that peace is crucial to unlocking the city’s huge economic potential and sustaining ongoing development efforts.
Governor Oborevwori assured that security agents were on the ground to maintain peace and order.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to promote inclusive governance and equitable development across the state.
“We appeal to all stakeholders to support our efforts in revitalizing infrastructure in Warri and avoid all acts capable of truncating the current peace in the oil-rich city.”
