Warri Wolves achieve historic away win in NPFL season

Warri Wolves Football Club, a newly promoted team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has secured its first away victory of the season.
The team on Sunday defeated Katsina United 1-0 at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, with forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma scoring the winning goal in the 76th minute.
Igbunu Evwierhurhoma’s decisive strike in the 76th minute sealed the win for Warri Wolves.
The match was closely contested, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.
Reacting to the victory, the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr Onoriode Oborevwori, congratulated the players and coaching staff on their resilience and determination.
He credited the victory to the unwavering support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose administration has prioritised sports development in the State.
“This victory is a testament to the governor’s commitment to sports and the determination of our boys.
”Warri Wolves are back in the topflight to compete, and this result shows they mean business, ” he said.
The triumph marked a significant milestone for Warri Wolves, which recently gained promotion to the NPFL.
Warri Wolves will host Enugu Rangers in their next match, scheduled for August 31 at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro.
Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to support the team.
The victory is a boost to the team’s morale and a testament to the effectiveness of the support provided by the Delta State government.
