Akpabio tasks Nigerians on maintenance and protection of govt facilities

Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to protect government facilities in their communities, emphasising that such projects were meant to benefit the people.
Senator Akpabio made call while inaugurating projects on Tuesday in the Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
His words: “My duty as your representative in the Senate is to ensure that I bring projects that you asked for in the overall good of the people.
“You, as the beneficiaries of these projects, owe the government a duty to protect the facilities so that they won’t be vandalised or destroyed by enemies of progress.
“In other words, I want communities to own these projects and by so doing, government at all levels would be encouraged to do more,”, Akpabio was quoted in a statement on Wednesday by his spokesman, Jackson Udom.
Akpabio also emphasised that as beneficiaries of these projects, communities have a duty to protect them from vandalism and destruction.
He stated, “If you say after all it is government property, let us vandalise them. Are we not all government?
“That means you are also destroying your property and by doing so, you have only succeeded in discouraging government from doing more for your community.”
Akpabio assured his constituents that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to delivering dividends of democracy to every Nigerian.
He highlighted the president’s recent approval for 1,000 Nigerians from every ward to receive financial empowerment to boost their economic power at the local level.
President Tinubu’s Administration
Akpabio described President Tinubu’s administration as “one with a human face that is determined to make things easier for the people, especially for the common people.”
He expressed optimism that the administration would continue to work towards the betterment of Nigerians.
