Social media key to Delta’s economic growth – Guwor

The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, has emphasised the importance of social media in driving economic growth, social awareness, and cultural promotion.
The speaker, represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, said this in the third edition of the Delta Social Media Summit held on Thursday in Asaba.
Rt. Hon. Guwor noted that social media could showcase the State’s investment opportunities, cultural heritage, innovations, and human capital to a global audience.
He also highlighted the need to use social media as a platform for empowerment, enabling youths to become content creators, digital marketers, entrepreneurs, and influencers.
According to him, “The true potential of Delta’s vast resources and talent pool can only be unlocked when we adapt to modern tools and technologies
“The future belongs to those who embrace change, harness technology, and innovations.
“Together, we can brand Delta with excellence, grow the state through innovation, and build a legacy of sustainable development and meaningful employment for generations to come, ” he said.
Guwor assured that the State Assembly was committed to creating a conducive environment for digital innovations to thrive.
He said, the Assembly will continue to advocate policies that support the digital ecosystem to ensure that no one is left behind in this digital revolution.
He advocated for policies that support digital literacy and infrastructure development.
The speaker expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the summit’s participants would contribute to the growth and development of the State.
Guwor called on the participants to fully engage in the summit’s discussions and networking opportunities, adding that such collaborative efforts were vital in building a digitally sharp, economically vibrant, and socially inclusive Delta State.
Guwor commended the organisers of the summit for providing a platform for sharing ideas and inspiration, wishing the summit success.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Summit Convener, Mr. Success Ossai, said the event was designed to expose young people to the numerous opportunities offered by the social media.
Ossai, also a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Oborevwori on Media, said the summit also aimed at equipping the young people with the knowledge and skills that thrived in the digital space.
