Iyana-Isolo Tanker Fire: 2 sustained injuries

A fully loaded petrol tanker overturned and burst into flames at Iyana-Isolo on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos on Sunday, August 31
The incident caused widespread panic and gridlock, with commuters and passersby scrambling for safety.
 According to eyewitnesses, the tanker lost control due to overspeeding while navigating the inward Oshodi corridor, leading to a collision with a commercial bus and subsequent explosion.
Two people, including the tanker driver and a co-passenger, sustained injuries.
The tanker, a container trailer, and parts of the expressway were consumed by the inferno.
The Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA, police officers, and officials of Ikeja Electric Distribution Company responded swiftly to contain the blaze and restore normalcy.
Oladiran Olanrewaju, a truck driver, witnessed the incident and described how the tanker lost control and collided with a commercial bus.
He appealed for swifter responses to emergencies of this nature.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed that no lives were lost, attributing it to prompt intervention.
He cautioned drivers of articulated vehicles and fuel tankers to observe statutory speed limits.
