Congress: C’River PDP executives get another term in office

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Working Committee (SWC) in Cross River has been asked to continue in office for another four years.
This was part of the decision arrived at a meeting by the state’s caucus of the party in Abuja at the weekend.
A communique of the meeting made available to NAN in Calabar on Monday, the local government executives were also asked to continue in office for another term.
“However, the caucus resolved that any local government area that feels its representative in the executive committee has not performed satisfactorily may initiate a replacement process,” It stated.
Meanwhile, any local government areas whose representatives have decamped from the party were mandated to nominate new and credible representatives to replace them.
The caucus commended the leadership of the National Executive for fostering an environment that allows for constructive engagement and inclusivity within the party.
It also called members and stakeholders to rally behind the party’s leadership and work together towards achieving victory in the 2027 general elections.
“We urge all members to remain committed to the party’s ideals and principles,” the communique reads.
NAN reports that the caucus meeting was attended by the party’s governorship candidate in 2023, Sen. Sandy Onor, and former deputy governor of the state and BOT member, Effiok Cobham.
Others are Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, and Godwin Offiono, a member of the House of Representatives.
It would be recalled that the national leadership of the PDP has fixed September for congresses to be conducted from ward to state level across the federation.
While September 13 has been fixed for the local government congress, that of the State is scheduled for September 27.
