Eid-Ul-Mawlid: Ease hardship, CAN urges leaders

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on political leaders to prioritise citizens’ welfare and alleviate hardship as Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday, by CAN’s President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who rejoiced with Nigerians and the Muslim faithful.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh, also emphasised the importance of humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God, values that transcend religious boundaries and promote a society built on peace, fairness, and mutual respect.
Okoh further stated that Eid-ul-Mawlid offered Nigerians a moment of reflection on the values exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad.
H, however, encouraged leaders to use this occasion to promote justice, ease hardship, and foster policies that strengthen unity and uphold human dignity.
The CAN president highlighted Nigeria’s current challenges, including governance issues, economic hardship, and the need for credible leadership.
He urged leaders to recommit to principles that promote fairness, accountability, and compassion.
“As our nation marks this occasion, we are reminded that Nigeria stands at a critical crossroad.
”The challenges of governance, economic hardship, and the deep yearning for credible leadership call for renewed commitment to principles that promote fairness, accountability, and compassion.
“We therefore urge political leaders, at all levels, to use this solemn season to embrace justice in their decisions, ease the burdens of hardship on citizens, and foster policies that strengthen unity and uphold the dignity of every Nigerian.
”Integrity and fairness must guide leadership if our nation is to realise its potential for peace and prosperity,” he said.
Okoh extended warm wishes to Muslims for a peaceful celebration and prayed that Eid-ul-Mawlid would inspire stronger bonds of unity across faiths, renew shared hope for Nigeria, and encourage collective efforts toward a just and prosperous nation.
“These values transcend religious boundaries and point us towards building a society anchored on peace, fairness, and mutual respect.
