Team Lagos has emerged as the leader in the medals table at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
According to the latest update, report showed Team Lagos had 35 gold, 18 silver, and 16 bronze medals, followed by Team Edo with 23 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals and Team Delta with 14 gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze medals.
Team Lagos’ dominance in swimming and gymnastics has significantly contributed to its lead.
The state’s swimmers won 19 gold and 4 silver medals, while its gymnasts claimed 4 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals in different disciplines.
The games would conclude today with six sports events still ongoing, including badminton, athletics, wrestling, ayo, kickboxing and Abula.
These events would determine the final medal count and the overall winner of the 9th National Youth Games.
Thirty-two states have participated, winning a total of 576 medals.
