Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has vowed to crack down on certificate forgers in the state after the November 8 governorship election.
Soludo made this declaration while addressing members of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), during the inauguration of his governorship campaign council at the weekend in Awka.
The governor pointed out that a governorship candidate’s running mate from a prominent political party who allegedly paraded a fake PhD degree.
According to Soludo, the individual claimed to have a school certificate and a PhD without any evidence of a diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in between.
”Investigations revealed that the PhD certificate was obtained from an unaccredited institution that sells certificates for as low as $60,” he added.
Soludo expressed concern that such actions could deceive young people into believing that academic success could be bought rather than earned through hard work.
“After November 8 election, we will declare war on fake certificate holders.
”After our war on fake native doctors, our next move is to go after fake certificate holders,” Soludo stated.
He emphasised the need to restore morality in Anambra State and sanitize the system.
The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to tackling fraudulent practices, referencing his previous efforts against fake native doctors who promise wealth without work.
Soludo stressed that Anambra State could not afford to allow certificate forgery to continue unchecked, as it undermines the value of education and morality.
Soludo’s declaration aimed to send a strong message about the importance of genuine academic qualifications and the dangers of certificate forgery.
By taking a stand against this issue, the governor hopes to promote a culture of honesty and hard work in Anambra State.
