Oborevwori commissions projects in Ukwuani LG, tasks Chairmen on legacy

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has urged local government council chairmen to ensure that they execute landmark projects before the end of their tenure in office.
The governor made the call on Thursday during the official commissioning of projects, including the inauguration of Ukwuani Mass Transit in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.
Elder Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, noted that the chairmen still have some years before the end of their tenures and encouraged them to use the time to make a lasting impact on their local government areas.
Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the local government chairmen across the State.
He noted that the chairmen have continued to execute landmark projects that were being commissioned across the State.
According to the Governor, “Local government council chairmen have continued to execute landmark projects that are being commissioned across the State.
”Today, I am very happy with the achievements of Ukwuani Local Government Council, ably led by the Council Chairman, Barr. Possible Ajede.
“This is not the first time that we are coming to Ukwuani Local Government on his invitation to commission projects.
“Like other council chairmen in our state, right from his first tenure, we have seen schools, classroom blocks being renovated, we have seen constructed farm roads, we have seen markets being built in various locations across the local government, ” he said.
He added, “We have seen abattoirs, Okpala-Uku Palaces being built, some of them already commissioned, we have seen town halls, various forms of empowerment and training programmes especially for our youth and women.
”So, the Chairman, Barr. Ajede has done a lot and as a state we are very happy with his achievements.Today he has added another cap by joining some local government chairmen that have constructed asphalt roads.
“The construction of a library is most significant to our educational pursuit, through it, millions of people will equally be liberated educationally.
“You have done very well Mr Chairman and we keep praying that God will continue to give you the strength and enablement to continue to manage the affairs of Ukwuani Local Government Area successfully till the end of your tenure.
“I want to believe that this is not going to be the last time that you will invite us to commission projects; you and other local government chairmen still have some years before the end of your tenures.
”I am sure that with your strength and your mental capacity, your legacies will be littered everywhere across the local government by the time you will be leaving your offices.”
Earlier, in his address, the Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Possible Ajede, noted that, the commissioned projects were products of his promises.
He said that the initiative behind the 28 Mini buses, termed, Ukwuani Mass Transit was to reduce the cost of transportation in the area.
The governor specifically commended the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Barr. Possible Ajede, for his outstanding performance.
Earlier, in his address of welcome, the Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Possible Ajede, noted that, the commissioned projects were products of his promises to his people.
He said that the initiative behind the mass transit system was to reduce the cost of transportation in the area.
Stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, and his Local Government Affairs counterpart, Prince Kelly Penawou, thanked the governor for creating an enabling environment for council chairmen to carry out their democratic functions effectively.
The member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, and other dignitaries attended the event.
The commissioning of the projects in Ukwuani Local Government Area is a testament to the commitment of the Governor and the local government chairmen to the development of the state.
The projects would undoubtedly improve the lives of the people and contribute to the growth and development of the local government area.
