Nigeria’s challenges didn’t start with Tinubu – SGF Akume

Secretary to the Government of the Federation,  Senator George Akume, has emphasised that Nigeria’s current challenges did not begin with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at a special service to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day Celebration in Abuja, Akume highlighted that President Tinubu has initiated bold reforms aimed at addressing long-standing issues, including the removal of fuel subsidy.
Senator Akume stressed that every Nigerian has a role to play in building the nation, stating, “Each Nigerian has a role in building the Nigeria that we deserve.”
The SGF reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the nation through reforms.
“The President needs the support of every Nigerian.
“What President Bola Tinubu is doing today could have been done 39 years ago.
“But, I believe that at the end of the tunnel, there is light,” the SGF said.
He noted that while the challenges are significant, “at the end of the tunnel, there is light.”
Akume called for cooperation among the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, emphasising that “we must always cooperate” to ensure the success of the reforms and the nation’s progress.
He highlighted that the Independence Day celebration not only commemorates Nigeria’s freedom from colonial rule but also honors the country’s founding fathers who fought for independence.
Akume’s message underscored the importance of collective effort and cooperation in overcoming Nigeria’s challenges and achieving national development.
