Tinubu orders security agencies to fish out killers of Arise News anchor

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the tragic death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.
Barr. Maduagwu, a 29-year-old promising journalist, lost her life in the attack, sparking widespread condemnation.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described her death as “cruel and condemnable”.
Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to Maduagwu’s family, the management and staff of Arise News Television, and the entire Nigerian media fraternity.
The President has instructed law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice without delay.
Tinubu further assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to strengthen measures aimed at combating crime in all its forms.
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, described Maduagwu’s death as “painful and unfortunate”, praying that the perpetrators would be apprehended swiftly and brought to justice.
The FCT Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with the Commissioner of Police directing the deployment of intelligence and operational assets to identify and apprehend those responsible.
