Youths beat Ondo monarch, wife, son during festival

A disturbing incident has unfolded in Idogun community, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, where angry youths allegedly assaulted the town’s monarch, Oba Moses Bakare, his wife, and their son, Prince Victor.

The attack occurred during the annual New Yam Festival, leaving the monarch and his family shaken.

Oba Bakare condemned the attack, describing it as a continuation of “unprovoked hostility” from a faction of youths within the community.

He labeled the act “barbaric and unfortunate.”

The monarch was also physically assaulted.

Prince Victor, who sustained injuries from the beating, claimed the youths poured urine and other filthy substances on him and stripped his mother half-naked.

The incident has sparked tension in the community, with residents expressing concern that the conflict could escalate if not quickly addressed.

The police and Amotekun Corps intervened promptly, preventing the situation from escalating further.

Oba Bakare commended their efforts, praising their timely intervention.

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.

DSP Olusola Ayanlade assured that justice would be served, stating, “The case is under investigation, and we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.”
