Gov. Fubara issues ultimatum to Raffoul over delayed road project

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has issued a one-month ultimatum to Raffoul Nigeria Limited, the construction company handling the 6.5-kilometer Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road, to complete the long-delayed project or face termination of the contract.
During an unscheduled inspection visit to the project site on Friday, Governor Fubara expressed disappointment over the contractor’s performance despite multiple variations granted to ensure completion of the road and its 200-meter bridge.
“We came to visit one of our sites, and I must say I feel highly disappointed. This project was awarded about June, 2020, by my predecessor.
”I even went as far as giving them two variations to enable them achieve a good proportion of this job. But to my greatest surprise, there is no progress to show for it, ” he said.
The Governor was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Projects, Mr. Hebron Wisdom.
Governor Fubara noted that the project had been evaluated and cancelled under the previous emergency administration but gave Raffoul another opportunity to deliver within the deadline.
He warned that if the company failed to complete the work within one month, he would revert to the earlier government position.
“If they can’t complete this job in the next one month, I will stick to that position of the administrator as at when the emergency rule was on in the state,” he said.
The Governor also expressed concerns over ongoing dredging activities near the bridge, describing them as unsafe and unacceptable.
He warned that if dredging activities continued around the area, he would personally supervise and destroy the dredger himself.
Governor Fubara emphasised that his administration remained committed to delivering quality infrastructure across Rivers State and would not tolerate any contractor that fails to meet contractual obligations.
The Governor’s ultimatum to Raffoul Nigeria Limited underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring the completion of critical infrastructure projects in the state.
The fate of the contract hangs in the balance, and Raffoul must deliver within the given timeframe to avoid termination.
