Governor Radda signs N137bn supplementary budget into law

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has signed the 2025 Supplementary Budget of N137 billion into law, following its approval by the State House of Assembly.

The supplementary budget, which allocated N126.8 billion to capital expenditure and N10.2 billion to recurrent spending, is aimed at accelerating the completion of major infrastructure projects across the state.

Governor Radda described the move as necessary to sustain his administration’s infrastructure drive, particularly in the areas of roads, healthcare, education, water supply, and agriculture.

According to the Governor, “This supplementary budget will help us complete vital ongoing projects and maintain momentum across key sectors.

“We are committed to implementing it with transparency and accountability, ” he said after signing the budget.

Radda also commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Daura, and members of the state Assembly for the quick passage of the bill.

He further explained that the additional funding was needed due to increased demands from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) that had exhausted their capital allocations.

The House Leader, Mr .Shamsuddeen Dabai, hailed Radda as one of Nigeria’s top-performing governors, stating that the supplementary appropriation came at a critical time, considering the high volume of development projects currently underway.

According to Ibrahim Mohammed, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the Assembly referred the bill to the Committee on Appropriations, whose report paved the way for its approval.

Radda assured residents that every kobo allocated would be properly accounted for, consistent with his administration’s commitment to good governance and responsible financial management.
