Air Peace launches first direct West Africa–Caribbean commercial flight

In a move to deepen ties between Africa and the Caribbean, Nigeria’s flagship carrier, Air Peace, has announced the launch of a monthly commercial service connecting Lagos and Accra to Antigua and Barbuda, with onward links to Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica.

Set to begin operations on December 21, 2025, the service positions Air Peace as the first and only airline offering direct commercial flights between West and Central Africa and the Caribbean, creating new opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two regions.

“This route is more than just a new destination — it’s a bridge between continents.

“We are proud to pioneer this connection, which reinforces our commitment to expanding Africa’s aviation footprint globally, ”the airline said in a statement.

The service builds on Air Peace’s successful forays into the Caribbean, including its landmark Lagos–Montego Bay charter flight in 2020 and the Abuja–St. Kitts & Nevis operation earlier this year, which received widespread acclaim across diplomatic and diaspora communities.

To enhance accessibility, Air Peace is collaborating with top travel agencies -Tour Brokers International (Nigeria), Sun Seekers Tours (Ghana), and Adansi Travels (Ghana), to design all-inclusive travel packages for adventurers, diaspora travellers, and holidaymakers looking to experience the cultural synergy between Africa and the Caribbean.

Air Peace currently serves more than 25 domestic routes, 10 regional destinations, and eight international locations, including London, Dubai, Jeddah, Johannesburg, and Mumbai. With the addition of this Caribbean route, the airline cements its role as a key aviation hub for West and Central Africa.

The expansion also aligned with broader geopolitical efforts to reconnect African and Caribbean nations, many of which share deep historical, cultural, and ancestral ties.

Analysts said the new route could unlock fresh diplomatic and economic opportunities, particularly in tourism, trade, education, and diaspora engagement.

Operating one of the most modern fleets in Africa, Air Peace’s aircraft lineup included Boeing 777s, Airbus A330s, Embraer 195-E2s, Boeing 737s, Embraer 145s, and Dornier jets — all maintained under strict international safety standards.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to safe, reliable, and affordable air travel, while also strengthening Nigeria’s aviation industry as a cornerstone of continental and intercontinental connectivity.

“Our mission goes beyond transportation. It’s about creating bridges where none existed and opening doors for collaboration between regions long separated by distance, but united by heritage,” the statement added.

With this landmark launch, Air Peace is not only transforming air travel routes but also contributing to a broader narrative, one that envisions Africa and the Caribbean as partners in growth, culture, and shared destiny.

The Lagos–Accra–Caribbean route is expected to attract a wide range of travellers, from tourists and diaspora communities to entrepreneurs and cultural ambassadors.

Industry experts also anticipate that it could inspire similar connections across the continent and its diaspora in the years ahead.
