President Tinubu celebrates Gov. Otu’s 66th birthday, praises development milestones

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Senator Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State, on his 66th birthday.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined family, friends, and well-wishers in honouring Governor Otu’s dedication to leadership, service, and public welfare.

The President applauded Governor Otu’s “People First” agenda, highlighting its focus on human capital development through strategic investments in education, healthcare, food security, and cultural empowerment.

Tinubu also recognised the Governor’s achievements in education, notably the establishment of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship and the College of Agriculture, which aim to equip the youth with skills to drive sustainable growth.

Further, the President commended Governor Otu’s efforts toward industrialisation, particularly the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone in Adiabo; a project supported by the African Development Bank that supports federal goals of strengthening value chains, boosting exports, and generating youth employment.

Expressing optimism, President Tinubu noted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Bakassi Deep Seaport, a 700km coastal highway from Calabar to Lagos, the 450km Trans-Sahara Superhighway to Abuja, a river port, and a free trade zone, which were set to position Cross River as a key commercial and tourism hub in West Africa.

The President wished Governor Otu continued health, strength, and wisdom as he serves his people and contributes to Nigeria’s progress.
