Delta Govt. hails Tantita Security for boosting oil output, supporting economic stability

The Delta Government has commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its pivotal role in protecting oil assets across the Niger Delta and contributing to a recent surge in national crude oil production, a development widely seen as crucial to Nigeria’s economic recovery.
Speaking during a live interview on Arise News’ The Morning Show on Sunday, the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, highlighted Tantita’s operations as a model of effective private-sector collaboration in the fight against oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
According to Aniagwu, the efforts of the security firm which is linked to former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo have helped stabilise Nigeria’s oil output, pushing production from a low of 1.1 million barrels per day to approximately 1.7 million barrels daily.
This recovery, he said, has delivered much-needed revenue to both the federal government and oil-producing states like Delta.
“Delta, being the leading oil-producing state, is seeing the benefits through derivation.
”Although we still believe the 13 per cent derivation is inadequate, the improvement in oil production brought about by Tantita’s work is benefitting the entire federation. It’s a national gain, ” he said.
Rejecting comparisons between Tantita’s operations and the escalating insecurity in other regions, Aniagwu described the security outfit’s activities as a benchmark for responsible corporate participation in public affairs.
He added that the initiative had not only curtailed illegal bunkering but also played a strategic role in economic stabilization at a critical time.
Beyond security, the Commissioner gave a broad overview of the Oborevwori administration’s development agenda, reaffirming the state’s commitment to delivering both physical infrastructure and social programs.
“In just two years, we’ve invested over N1.3 trillion in capital projects and these aren’t phantom projects.
”These are real roads, real bridges, and real flyovers. We’ve maintained regular salary payments and launched several humanitarian schemes to assist widows and vulnerable groups across the state,” he said.
He emphasised that the administration’s prudent financial management had insulated Delta’s schools from many of the strikes that have plagued the education sector nationally, pointing to this as evidence of the state’s stable economic footing and prioritisation of human capital development.
At the core of the administration’s efforts, he said, is the MORE Agenda, a policy framework built on the pillars of Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
“As we move towards 2027, the Oborevwori administration will continue to blend governance with political inclusion, ensuring that government touches lives directly across all 25 local government areas,” Aniagwu said.
The remarks come amid heightened national attention on oil sector reforms and the growing role of private security partnerships in securing critical infrastructure.
