Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of retired Navy Commander and former Military Administrator of Delta State, Walter Feghabo, describing the late officer as a disciplined patriot and a respected leader whose contributions continue to shape the Niger Delta’s development story.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Monday, the Governor extended sympathies to the government and people of Bayelsa State, the Nembe Kingdom, and the bereaved family, noting that Feghabo’s death marked the loss of a towering figure in both military and civil leadership.

“Commander Feghabo was a true son of the Niger Delta, a man of honour, focus, and integrity.

“As Military Administrator of Delta State, he displayed an unwavering commitment to inclusive leadership, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

”His governance style and developmental efforts laid part of the foundation on which Delta continues to grow, ” he said.

Commander Feghabo, who also served as the pioneer Military Administrator of Ebonyi State before his tenure in Delta, was widely regarded for his firm leadership and his role in initiating early infrastructural and agricultural development in the states he administered.

Governor Oborevwori noted that Feghabo brought the same military discipline and sense of duty into public administration, earning the respect of colleagues and citizens alike.

Beyond his official duties, Feghabo also held traditional responsibilities as the Alternate Chairman of the Nembe Chiefs Council, where he supported the leadership of His Majesty, King Edmund Daukoru, Mingi XII, Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom, with grace and wisdom.

“In both public service and traditional leadership, Commander Feghabo served with dignity.

”His passing is a painful loss not only to the Ijaw Nation but to the entire country,” the governor stated.

He urged the deceased’s family to take pride in the exemplary life their patriarch lived and assured them that Delta State holds his memory in high regard.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Nembe Kingdom, the Ijaw Nation, and the government of Bayelsa State. May his noble soul rest in perfect peace,” Oborevwori said.
