CAF reveals 2025 African player of the year finalists

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the final shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year award, spotlighting some of the continent’s finest football talents. Leading the list are Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Egypt’s Mohammed Salah, and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi.
The full ten-man roster also features Frank Anguissa of Cameroon, DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele, Gabon’s Denis Bouanga, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Morocco’s Oussama Lamlouki, and Senegal’s Iliman Ndiaye and Pape Matar Sarr.
This elite group reflects exceptional performances from the 2024–2025 season across top leagues globally.
Victor Osimhen stands out with 37 goals and 7 assists in 41 games, capturing two trophies along the way.
Mohammed Salah remains a strong contender after netting 34 goals and contributing 23 assists in 52 appearances, playing a pivotal role in Liverpool’s recent silverware success.
Meanwhile, Achraf Hakimi impressed with 9 goals and 12 assists over 48 matches, winning four trophies with Paris Saint-Germain.
The winner will be decided through votes cast by CAF’s technical committee, African football legends, journalists, as well as national team coaches and captains.
The 2025 CAF Awards ceremony will celebrate Africa’s top football talents across various categories for both men and women, with the venue still to be announced.
