Nasarawa secures FG approval for 2 flyovers in Mararaba

The Nasarawa State Government has received approval from the Federal Government to construct two flyovers in Mararaba, aimed at alleviating persistent traffic congestion in the busy Karu–Mararaba corridor.
This announcement was made by Mr. Wada Muhammed, Managing Director of the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency (NUDA), during a briefing in Lafia on Thursday.
Mr. Muhammed revealed that the approval was granted by Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, following a request from Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.
Muhammed explained that the projects are part of the state government’s broader strategy to provide sustainable solutions to traffic challenges.
“With the Minister’s approval secured on October 27, construction will begin soon, and we expect the flyovers to be completed within 18 months,” he said.
He also added that the Sule administration had ensured that major development projects were spread across all local government areas, with at least two significant projects either ongoing or completed in each area.
On the Keffi flyover, Muhammed noted that work was progressing steadily and may be finished ahead of schedule.
A minor delay occurred after a major water pipe beneath the site required the structure’s redesign to prevent damage, which has now been fully resolved.
Meanwhile, the Lafia flyover and underpass are currently under temporary diversion as an additional asphalt layer is added to enhance road quality and longevity.
Muhammed appealed to motorists and residents for patience during construction and assured that the state remains committed to improving its road infrastructure.
He further urged the public to continue supporting Governor Sule’s efforts to enhance living conditions across Nasarawa State.
