NASME Delta holds maiden annual conference, champions technology for growth

The Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), has called on small and medium-scale businesses to embrace technology and innovation as drivers of growth in a rapidly changing global economy.
The State Chairman of NASME, Lady Judith Nwachukwu made the call at the maiden 2025 Annual State Conference and Exhibition of the Association on Friday in Asaba.
The event, themed “Leveraging on Technology for Business Growth and Expansion,” which took place in Asaba, the State capital, attracted business leaders, entrepreneurs, government officials, and development partners.
Lady Nwachukwu, described the theme as “timely and relevant,” noting that technology and artificial intelligence have become key enablers of modern business success.
“NASME owes a duty to its members to ensure that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) acquire the requisite technological skills and knowledge to compete and innovate in the new economy evolving around the world,” Nwachukwu said.
She emphasised that the conference was designed to enlighten and educate business owners on how to leverage technology for productivity, innovation, and competitiveness in the digital era.
“This conference places on us the responsibility of providing, promoting, and encouraging the growth of MSMEs in our state and nation. We are conscious of the potency of our dream for a better tomorrow,” she added.
Lady Nwachukwu expressed appreciation to the State Government and several corporate partners who have supported NASME’s vision of building a vibrant MSME ecosystem that can contribute meaningfully to the national economy.
She also called on Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori to extend more support to NASME, especially in its efforts to reach MSMEs across all 25 local government areas of the state.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the governor, the Chief Political Adviser to the Governor, Senator Ighoyota Amori, commended NASME for the initiative.
Senator Amori described it as a crucial step toward empowering entrepreneurs with the skills and tools needed to thrive in today’s knowledge-driven economy.
Amori also noted that the event’s objectives were in line with the ‘MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori’s administration, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
According to him, “Through the MORE Agenda, the current administration is creating an enabling environment for businesses to grow.
”Delta State is positioning itself to be a technology-driven economy where creativity meets opportunity,” Amori said.
He added that when properly harnessed, technology could provides small businesses with the leverage to expand beyond local boundaries and compete globally.
“Our young entrepreneurs must take advantage of digital opportunities to build their businesses.
”The state government remains committed to supporting and partnering in such progressive initiatives,” he said..
Other dignitaries and participants at the conference commended the organizers for their vision and dedication.
They described the event as a major step toward transforming Delta’s MSME landscape through innovation and technology.
The conference featured panel discussions, exhibitions of locally made products, and networking sessions aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among business owners and technology experts.
With its successful maiden edition, NASME Delta has set the stage for what many believe will become a flagship platform for driving MSME development and digital transformation across the state.
