Business magnate and gaming entrepreneur, Chief Kessington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, has denied allegations linking him to a viral explicit video said to feature 55-year-old Lagos socialite and entrepreneur, Omoge Saidat.
The controversy erupted on October 27, 2025, after purported private photos and videos allegedly belonging to Saidat began circulating online.
Social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with speculation after unverified reports suggested that the content was found on the phone of Chief Adebutu by one of his wives.
However, sources close to the 90-year-old philanthropist described the claims as “entirely false and malicious.”
They confirmed that Adebutu is preparing a public statement and a possible legal response to address what his team called a “coordinated smear campaign.
“Chief Adebutu has never met the woman in question. The stories being circulated are baseless and defamatory,” a family associate told reporters in Lagos on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the alleged victim, Saidat, has remained largely silent. A short voice recording, which surfaced online on October 29 via blogger Mama Esabod, is purported to feature Saidat addressing a man about “personal betrayal.”
The clip has since drawn thousands of listens, though its authenticity has not been verified.
Public reaction to the saga remained sharply divided. While many social media users expressed sympathy for Saidat, others criticised the circumstances surrounding the leak and cautioned against the non-consensual sharing of private material.
Digital rights advocates have since warned against the illegal circulation of intimate content, urging platforms to take stronger action against users who promote or monetize such leaks.
As of press time, neither Saidat nor Baba Ijebu’s representatives have released a formal statement. Legal analysts suggest that defamation or cybercrime charges could follow if the allegations are proven to be false or maliciously spread.
