2027 Elections: Diri pledges 99% votes for Tinubu in Bayelsa

Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, has pledged to deliver 99 per cent of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The announcement came on Monday in Yenagoa, during a ceremony marking his official defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event was attended by top political figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several APC governors from across the country.
Governor Diri, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on October 15, 2025, cited alignment with the federal government as the main reason for his defection.
“I am not a bossy type, I have come to unite us so that we can work together and produce 99 per cent result in Bayelsa come 2027.
”I don’t know the opposition from the other side,” Diri said.
He expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the APC, noting that his goal is to unite all party members in Bayelsa and work collaboratively with the federal government.
“There is so much we can do together by aligning with the Federal Government that has shown us the will and direction that they love the Izon people, Bayelsa State,” the governor added.
