Tinubu hosts Sierra Leone’s president Bio at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Friday welcomed the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja for bilateral talks aimed at deepening cooperation between the two West African nations.

President Bio, who also chairs the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), was received with a presidential guard of honour upon arrival at the State House.

His visit underscored the continued engagement between Nigeria and Sierra Leone on issues of economic development, peacekeeping, and regional stability.

In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle shortly after arriving, President Bio stated that his trip to Nigeria was primarily to deliver an address at Baze University’s 12th Convocation Ceremony.

He also indicated plans to meet leading African investors and business leaders during his stay.

> “This evening, I arrived in Abuja to speak at Baze University’s 12th Convocation and to engage with top African business leaders.

“I look forward to productive discussions and meaningful partnerships, ” he wrote.

While details of the meeting between the two leaders were not immediately disclosed, officials say the discussions are expected to focus on regional collaboration, trade relations, and education initiatives within the ECOWAS framework.

Images released from the State House showed President Tinubu and President Bio in a cordial exchange, accompanied by senior government officials from both countries.
