First Lady advocates collective child’s protection against sexual abuse

The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to give adequate protection to all children against any form of sexual exploitation and abuse.

The First Lady gave this advice in Abuja on Tuesday in commemoration of the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse 2025.

The theme for the day is,“Strengthening the Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Through Evidence-Based Policy Making”.

Mrs Tinubu urged parents and the society in general to ensure that they prioritise and make it a point of duty to protect children against any form of sexual abuse.

According to Mrs Tinubu, as a nation, “we must ensure that every child grows up free from fear and harm.

“I call on government agencies, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, parents, and young people to work together to create a protective environment where children can feel safe to thrive.

“We are reminded that protecting children must go beyond words and good intentions.

“It demands informed action, guided by accurate data, research, and sound policies. May God Protect all our Children, ” she said.
