Enugu Sen. Okey Ezea passes away, deputy senate pays tribute

Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North in the National Assembly, has died while receiving medical treatment in Lagos.

His passing was confirmed by his son, Jideofor Ezea, who asked for prayers for the family following the brief illness that led to his death on Tuesday night.

Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, described Ezea as a dedicated pan-Nigerian politician.

He highlighted Ezea’s contributions as Vice Chairman of both the Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa/NEPAD and the Senate Committee on Culture and Creative Economy.

Jibrin praised his efforts toward national unity and the development of Enugu North.

Born on August 11, 1963, Ezea was a lawyer and businessman who won his Senate seat on the Labour Party platform in the 2023 elections, becoming the only LP member from Enugu State in the 10th National Assembly.
