Kwara governor calls for urgent security reinforcement in Ekiti LGA following bandit attack

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called for immediate and reinforced security deployment to Ekiti Local Government Area, particularly the Eruku axis, in response to a recent wave of bandit attacks targeting the community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq condemned the attack on the Christian Association of Churches (CAC) in Eruku town on Tuesday, describing it as “unconscionable.”
The governor expressed sympathy for the affected families and the wider community, pledging continued support for efforts to ensure the safety of lives and properties across the state.
The statement emphasised that the governor has requested the immediate deployment of additional security operatives to support existing forces and strengthen the security architecture in the area.
Governor AbdulRazaq also commended President Bola Tinubu for recently authorizing the deployment of 900 additional troops to Kwara State, noting that this measure has already contributed to appreciable calm in previously affected areas.
He expressed confidence that the new troops would further deter criminal activities and reinforce long-term safety and stability for residents.
“The Governor wholly condemns the unconscionable attack, sympathises and identifies with the people of Eruku and environs, especially families and the CAC directly impacted by the condemnable attack of Tuesday,” the statement read.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with security agencies in tackling challenges posed by banditry and ensuring the protection of citizens.
