Oborevwori, Nnaji, others set for Asaba correspondents chapel annual seminar

PGovernor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, is expected to formally declare open the 2025 edition of the Asaba Correspondents Chapel Seminar, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, November 26, Asaba.

This was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Seminar Organising Committee, Mr Omon-Julius Onabu; Chairman of the Chapel, Mr Ifeanyi Olannye; and Secretary of the Committee, Mrs. Ann Eluwa, on Thursday in Asaba.

According to the organisers, “Governor Oborevwori will attend as Special Guest of Honour, and he would be accompanied by senior government functionaries, including the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Dennis Guwor.

The four-day Seminar/Workshop, running from November 26 to 29, is themed: “Understanding the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori’s Administration: Meaningful Development in the Power Sector as a Panacea for Economic Recovery and Development in Delta State and Nigeria.”

The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, will deliver the lead overview of the topic.

”Also expected at the event is former Minister of Power and Chief Executive Officer of Geometric Power Limited, Aba, Prof. Barth Nnaji, who will deliver the keynote address titled: “Nigeria’s Power Sector Reforms: Implications and Challenges for Emerging State Economies and National Economic Recovery”, it states.

”Similarly, Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, will speak on “Energy Mix for Sustainable Economic Recovery and Development of Delta State and Nigeria.

”On the issue of protecting critical infrastructure, the Tantita Security Group is billed to present recommendations on improving security within the power sector”, it further stated.

The event will be chaired by elder statesman, Chief Chris Biose, and will feature artistic performances to entertain participants.

Awards will also be presented to individuals who have made notable contributions in public service, politics, journalism, and philanthropy.

The Chapel’s partners, including the Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, and the Director-General of the State Bureau of Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimor Oghenesivbe, are expected to attend.

Members of the State Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta Council, alongside invited guests from within and beyond Delta State, will also grace the occasion.
