President Bola Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 68th birthday, celebrating his contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and nation-building.
In a statement released on Thursday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu joined family, friends, and political associates in marking the occasion.
He highlighted Jonathan’s humility and simplicity, qualities that defined his leadership style and were particularly evident during the 2015 presidential election, which Tinubu said strengthened Nigeria’s democratic institutions and enhanced the nation’s international standing.
Reflecting on his personal interactions with Jonathan, Tinubu recalled the former President’s guidance and support, which were pivotal during Jonathan’s political ascent, notably in 2010 and the 2011 presidential election.
The President also acknowledged Jonathan’s ongoing efforts in international diplomacy, noting his commitment to promoting democratic values across Africa.
Tinubu prayed for the health and happiness of the former President, his wife Patience, and the entire Jonathan family, expressing hope that they would continue to serve as examples of dedication and statesmanship.
