Zamfara police rescue 25 abducted victims, foil bandits’ attack

The Zamfara State Police Command in Gusau has successfully thwarted an armed attack and rescued 25 abducted victims in the Damba area of Gusau Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the command received a distress call on Friday, November 21, at around 9:45 p.m., reporting that a large group of heavily armed bandits had attacked Kuraje village in Damba.

The assailants reportedly abducted 10 women and 15 children from the community. In response, joint police patrol teams from Damba Division and the Department of Operations, working alongside the Community Protection Guards (CPG), were quickly mobilized to the scene.

“The team confirmed the incident, pursued the fleeing bandits, and engaged them in a coordinated operation.

Thanks to the professionalism and swift action of the operatives, all 25 victims were rescued unharmed and relocated to Sabongari Damba for safety and profiling,” DSP Abubakar stated.

The rescued women and children have since been reunited with their families.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, commended the bravery and dedication of the officers involved.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Zamfara State.
