Christians, Muslims must unite to tackle insecurity–Cleric

The General Overseer of the House of Prayer Assembly, Basilica, Dr Joseph Omorinoye has urged the public to unite and tackle the lingering insecurity head-on.

He advised Nigerians to stop attributing insecurity to religion, observing that it was never a religious crisis.

Omorinoye, gave the advice in Ilorin on Sunday while delivering a sermon titled: “Prayer for Protection’ from the Book of Psalm 35:1-10)”.

He urged the public not to hate anyone irrespective of their religious differences, “but to unite and end the menace.”

According to him, many people have been brainwashed to see the insecurity in Nigeria as Muslim vs Christian crisis.

“This is not a Christian vs Muslim crisis. They only want to divide us to cause tension so that they will have their way.

“Irrespective of our religious differences, let us unite and be prayerful. Don’t fight anyone all in the name of religion.

“The kidnappers don’t ask if you are a Christian or Muslim. They only demand for ransom. Therefore, let us unite, surely together we can proffer solutions.

“The insecurity is going wild that we must quench the dangerous fire burning the country. We can only do that when we see ourselves as one,” he admonished.

The Pastor, however, prayed to God Almighty to fight the battle for Nigeria, and scatter the enemy camps anywhere in Nigeria.

“Let destruction come upon the bandits, terrorists and evil doers’ camps tormenting the peace of Nigeria,” he echoed.

He, however, called on the public to be prayerful and cooperate with security agencies to see end to the activities of the evil doers wherever they may be in the country.
