Gov. Alex Otti visits IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto, praises State’s hospitality

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, over the weekend, visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.

The governor commended the people and government of Sokoto State for the “exceptional hospitality” extended to him and his delegation during their visit.

Governor Otti described the visit as an opportunity to witness firsthand the treatment of Kanu and to engage with the authorities.

He said the delegation left Sokoto with a strong sense of appreciation for the warmth and cordiality shown by the state’s officials.

“We are going back with the memories that Sokoto is a land of hospitality, and we are so happy to see our brother, our son, Nnamdi Mazi Kanu, who has also become a son to me by reason of circumstances that happened,” Otti said.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the Sokoto authorities for ensuring that Kanu is being treated well while in detention.

“We are happy that you people are taking care of him, and I pray that God will continue to bless Sokoto State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the good brotherhood and for the love we all have for each other,” he added.

Otti extended his heartfelt appreciation to the people and government of Sokoto State.

“Thank you very much, ” he said.

This visit comes amidst continued national attention on Nnamdi Kanu, whose detention has been a focal point in Nigeria’s political and security discourse.

The meeting also underscores the importance of inter-state respect and collaboration, highlighting Sokoto State’s approach to hospitality and prisoner welfare.
