Sen. Marafa supports Trump’s military threat on Nigeria

A former lawmaker, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has publicly expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat of military action in Nigeria, arguing that it puts pressure on the Nigerian government to tackle the country’s insecurity crisis.

Senator Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2019, spoke on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

His words: “I strongly support the President of America, Donald Trump, for issuing that threat.

“I differ with many Nigerians who focus solely on sovereignty and patriotism, which I respect. But of what importance is sovereignty to a dead man?”, he asked.

Marafa suggested that external pressure may compel the Nigerian government to take more decisive action against insecurity, which continues to pose a serious challenge across multiple states.

His remarks come in the wake of recent criticism from U.S. lawmakers, who accused the Nigerian government of failing to stop killings and other violent crimes in the country.
