Ghana drawn with England, Croatia, Panama in 2026 world cup group

Ghana’s national football team may face one of its toughest challenges yet at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being drawn into a competitive group alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

The draw, conducted at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., revealed the groupings for Africa’s nine qualified teams in the expanded 48-nation tournament, which will be hosted across Canada, the United States, and Mexico from June 11 to July 18.

Ghana is set to compete in Group L, with the top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, advancing to the knockout stages.

The grouping positions Ghana against historically strong European sides, presenting both a formidable challenge and an opportunity for high-level competition.

Other African teams were also placed in various groups, including Morocco in Group C with Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, and Senegal in Group I alongside France, Norway, and the winner of FIFA Playoff Tournament 2. Meanwhile, South Africa was drawn in Group A with Mexico, South Korea, and the European play-off winner D.

The 2026 edition will be the first to feature 48 teams, a significant expansion from previous tournaments, promising a larger, more competitive global stage.

Ghana’s preparations are expected to intensify as the country aims to navigate its challenging group and advance to the knockout rounds.

With anticipation growing among fans and football authorities alike, African representatives now focus on rigorous training and strategic planning to ensure they are competitive on the world stage.
