PDP factional BoT meets in Abuja, sets agenda for outstanding state congresses

The factional Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, convened in Abuja on Sunday to review the party’s internal challenges and map out plans to conduct long-delayed state congresses.

In his opening remarks, Senator Ohuabunwa emphasised that the board remained committed to rebuilding confidence among party members and restoring organisational order across all levels of the party.

Ohuabunwa also said the leadership was ready to engage closely with state chapters to ensure the emergence of credible leadership structures capable of stabilising the party nationwide.

Ohuabunwa further outlined a strategic plan that includes holding overdue congresses, consolidating ongoing reforms, and supporting national organs of the party in repositioning the PDP ahead of future elections.

He stressed that these steps were essential to improving internal democracy, strengthening transparency, and deepening grassroots participation.

“By conducting congresses as and when due and reinforcing discipline within the organisation, the PDP will be better placed to rebuild trust and present itself as a unified, credible alternative in the political landscape,” he said.

The meeting is part of broader efforts by the faction to address leadership concerns and reenergise the party’s structures nationwide.
