PDP constitutes panel to hear Osun governorship primary appeals

PThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established a 24-member appeals panel to address grievances stemming from the party’s 2026 Osun State governorship primary election.
The move is aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in resolving disputes from the electoral process.
According to the party’s spokesman, Theophilus Shan, the panel will convene on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The hearing is scheduled to commence at 11 a.m. and will focus solely on appeals allowed under PDP rules and Nigeria’s electoral law.
Shan confirmed that Tanimu Turaki has been appointed as the Chairman of the panel, with Taofeek Arapaja serving as Secretary.
Other members include notable figures such as Dr. Daniel Woyengikuro, Hamza Koshe, Ihediwa Richard, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Idowu, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, Emmanuel Ekpe, and Suleiman Usman, among others.
The PDP spokesman emphasised that the panel’s proceedings must strictly adhere to the PDP Constitution, the party’s Electoral Guidelines for Primaries, and the Electoral Act, in order to maintain the integrity of the process.
Shan added that the formation of the panel reflected the party’s commitment to fair play and internal democracy, allowing aspirants to seek redress in a structured and legal manner.
He described the appeal panel as a critical mechanism for resolving disputes amicably and avoiding prolonged internal conflicts that could affect the party’s cohesion ahead of the general elections.
The PDP’s establishment of the appeals committee underscores its determination to manage internal grievances transparently and to ensure that all party members have a fair opportunity to voice their concerns regarding the primary exercise.
