Tinubu hosts 6 governors at State House, details of talks kept under wraps

President Bola Tinubu on Monday met with six governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking another round of political consultations within the ruling party’s leadership.

The delegation of governors included Sokoto State’s Ahmad Aliyu, Ondo State’s Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Jigawa State’s Umar Namadi, Kebbi State’s Nasir Idris, Kogi State’s Usman Ododo, and Edo State’s Monday Okpebholo.

Photographs from the meeting, released by the Presidency, showed the President in closed-door discussions with the governors, but officials did not immediately disclose the substance of the conversation.

Although no formal statement accompanied the images shared publicly.

Analysts said that the presence of six governors at once suggested that the discussions might have touched on governance priorities, security concerns, and internal party strategies ahead of major political and economic decisions expected in the coming months.

The meeting also comes at a time when several APC governors have openly expressed support for the administration’s economic reforms and security initiatives, signalling alignment between federal and state leadership within the ruling party.

The photos circulated on Monday portray a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere as the governors exchanged greetings with President Tinubu inside the State House.

The images were shared by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, further confirming the engagement.

While specifics of the meeting remain undisclosed, insiders suggest that such gatherings are becoming more frequent as the President deepens engagements with subnational leaders to strengthen coordination on national programmes.
