Sen. Abaribe engages “ONE” delegation on power projects, regional development in Delta

In a significant show of collaboration and proactive leadership, a three-man delegation from the organisation “ONE” paid a visit to Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, at his Senate office on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by Elder Ossai Udom, Chairman of “ONE,” alongside Svt. Rodney Odibe Odili-Obi, Coordinator of the organization, and Azuka Okechukwu, President of the Ndokwa Youth Forum.
The visit was facilitated by Pharm. Paul Enebeli, who recommended the engagement with the distinguished Senator.
Senator Abaribe, renowned for his integrity, experience, and deep understanding of national issues, reportedly left the Senate plenary to meet with the delegation, emphasising the importance he places on constituency-driven initiatives.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the next steps in resolving the IPP-GRID power challenges affecting their federal constituency.
This followed official approval from the Minister of Power, allowing the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to fund key aspects of the project including the access road and sand filling at the Okpai, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, site—through its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
While the Minister’s approval has been in place since 2022, the delegation highlighted the necessity of Senate Committee authorisation for IGR-based project disbursements.
The meeting, therefore, provided a crucial opportunity to align with legislative processes and ensure smooth execution of the project.
In addition to energy development, the meeting offered the delegation firsthand insights into discussions surrounding new state creation in the South East, reflecting the Senator’s role in guiding informed regional development policies.
The delegation expressed profound appreciation to Senator Abaribe for his time, wisdom, and commitment to progress, as well as to the office of the Minister of Power for supporting the project over the years.
Barr. Hessington Okolo and Dr. Ezenwa Nwakonobi were unavoidably absent from the meeting.
This engagement underscored a shared commitment to infrastructural advancement, transparent governance, and strategic development in the region, signaling a promising future for the constituency.
