APC officially welcomes Gov. Fubara into party ranks

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has been formally inducted into the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political shift in the state’s landscape.
His registration was completed on Friday after he received his party membership card at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The presentation was made by Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha, who represented the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during a courtesy visit by the state executive committee.
Speaking shortly after his registration, Governor Fubara said his move to the APC was guided by a desire to consolidate peace and foster development across Rivers State.
According to him, aligning the state with the political leadership at the federal level was essential for achieving long-term political stability and accelerating developmental projects.
The governor also praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as unwavering support during periods of intense political turbulence in the state.
He emphasised that backing the President was both a strategic and symbolic gesture of appreciation.
Governor Fubara noted that with Rivers State now aligned with the ruling party at the center, efforts to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections would be more coordinated.
He pledged to ensure that the party structures in the state remain active, vibrant, and well-supported under his administration.
Expressing gratitude to party members and supporters who stood by him through recent political upheavals, he called on them to intensify their commitment as the state entered a new chapter of political consolidation.
In a message delivered by Okocha, APC National Chairman Yilwatda congratulated Fubara for what he called a courageous and well-considered decision.
He said the governor’s defection signals a renewed opportunity for unity among Rivers political actors and opens a new era for the party in the state.
The event drew several high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
Keyamo was in Rivers State as a guest of the governor for the commissioning of the Ikwerre Road–Igwuruta–Airport Road project and the launch of construction works on a new bypass expected to improve access to communities around the Port Harcourt International Airport.
