Immigration service announces temporary disruptions as passport platform undergoes maintenance

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has alerted the public to possible interruptions in its passport services as it carries out scheduled maintenance on its Passport Digital Platform.
In a statement issued by the Service’s spokesperson, Akinsola Akinlabi, the NIS explained that the maintenance exercise is designed to upgrade system performance and improve the overall experience for users.
The process will run from 12:00 a.m. on December 12 to 6:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025 (GMT).
According to Akinlabi, the exercise may cause temporary delays, slower platform responses, or restricted access to some digital passport services during the affected period.
He emphasised that the upgrade is a routine but essential step to maintain a secure and efficient digital passport system.
“The Service kindly requests the public’s patience and understanding,” the statement noted, assuring citizens that NIS technical teams are working continuously to ensure the platform is fully restored within the announced timeline.
The NIS urged users seeking help throughout the maintenance window to reach out to its support channels, which will remain active:
